# Learn about Editor Mode

## Switch between 2D / 3D modes

The editor offers four viewer modes.\
The Floor (2D) and ISO View (3D) modes will be the ones you use most often, so be sure to remember the shortcuts!

#### Floor (2D mode)

: This mode lets you view the drawing on a 2D plane.\
It is useful when placing, copying, or moving furniture, or when setting up a layout.\
It also displays dimension information, so you can easily check distances between furniture or between walls and furniture at a glance, which is a big help when planning a layout.

#### Plan Viewer

: This mode lets you view the entire space from a top-down perspective.\
It gives the space a more three-dimensional feel, making it easier to understand the placement of furniture and the structure more clearly.

#### ISO View (3D mode)

: This mode lets you view products in three dimensions using an isometric view in 3D mode.\
You can check the front, side, and top of a product at the same time, allowing you to fine-tune furniture placement and design.\
This mode is especially useful when moving products up and down or placing finishing materials on walls.

#### First-person Viewer

: This mode lets you explore the space from a first-person perspective.\
It feels as if you are actually in the space, allowing you to experience the interior design and check details directly.\
However, in First-person Viewer mode, you cannot place or edit products; only viewing functions are available.

Shortcut

| Name                    | Shortcut |
| ----------------------- | -------- |
| **Floor (2D mode)**     | 1        |
| **Plan Viewer**         | 2        |
| **ISO View (3D mode)**  | 3        |
| **First-person Viewer** | 4        |

## 2D View Mode Settings

There are also various buttons in the View Mode, shown as the eye icon at the bottom of the editor.\
You can turn functions on and off, and using them appropriately can be a great help with your work. Let's go through them one by one.

#### View mode

* Grid: You can turn the grid pattern shown in the background on or off.
* Guidelines: You can show or hide the guidelines added while drawing the floor plan.
* Floor furniture: You can toggle all furniture with the floor placement property on or off at once.
* Wall furniture: You can toggle all furniture with the wall placement property on or off at once.
* Ceiling furniture: You can toggle all furniture with the ceiling placement property on or off at once.
* Building/Materials: You can easily turn structures created with the Building/Materials editor on or off.

#### Room View

* Space name: The room type or the custom name you set is displayed.
* Space area: The area is automatically calculated and displayed on the 2D floor plan.

#### Dimension lines view

* Interior wall dimensions as the default: By default, interior wall dimensions are displayed. You can check the exact dimensions between walls.
* Hide dimension lines: If you don't need dimension lines, you can select Hide Dimension Lines to hide them. This is useful when creating a clean drawing.

## 3D Mode Settings

### Display mode

ArchiSketch offers four display modes.\
By using these modes, you can easily check the exact outline of a product, which is useful when working in more detail.\
The modes are as follows.

* Normal mode: Products are displayed with their colors and textures by default. Use this in a normal working environment.
* Wireframe mode: This mode shows only the outlines of products, allowing you to accurately understand their shape, which is useful for placement and alignment tasks.
* Material + Wireframe mode: This mode highlights product details.\
  Use it when checking areas that require texture or detail.
* Transparent Wireframe mode: In 3D view, you can better see the depth and dimensionality of products.

### Performance mode

\[Display Priority] and \[Performance Priority] are two modes in ArchiSketch Editor used to optimize the screen.\
Each mode adjusts the user's working environment differently, operating by prioritizing either display quality or performance.

* Display Priority: The elements shown on the screen appear clearer and more detailed.\
  It is useful when visual quality matters, but it may be somewhat slow with complex models.
* Performance Priority: Simplifies on-screen display to provide faster response speed.\
  Performance is smoother when working on complex tasks, but visual quality may be slightly reduced.

### Camera Settings

Click the camera-shaped icon at the bottom right of the editor to set the camera position, azimuth, and field of view in 3D mode.

![](/files/9cc8329cbe1a075cf2ef7270e81a4719650ac5c6)

* Perspective: With the camera altitude set to 35°, azimuth to 47°, and field of view to 60°, the space naturally appears with depth and perspective.\
  You can check a realistic sense of space similar to what you would see with your own eyes.
* Orthographic: You can accurately understand the structure and proportions of the space without perspective distortion.\
  This is a useful view when objectively reviewing furniture placement or room dimensions.

### Sunlight

Sunlight is applied by clicking the sunlight-shaped icon at the bottom right of the editor.\
Clicking this icon creates the effect of real sunlight coming in, allowing you to view the model more realistically.

* The sunlight settings are also linked to Render Studio, so the applied settings are reflected during rendering as well.

## Other features

### Lock Drawing (2D Mode)

After completing the floor plan, when decorating it by placing furniture or finishing materials, this feature locks the walls in the drawing so they don't move.\
Using this feature lets you safely place other elements without accidentally changing the walls.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you're trying to edit a wall during work but it won't move, check whether 'Lock Drawing' is enabled!
{% endhint %}

### Screen Capture

A feature that lets you easily download the editor screen as an image file. It can be used in both 2D / 3D modes.

**In 2D mode**

* The entire floor plan is automatically fit to the range.
* Dimensions and room names are excluded.
* The result is downloaded in PNG format.

**In 3D mode**

* The view currently shown on the screen is captured as-is.
* Downloaded in PNG format.

![](/files/481a2fa742272afd4160542a307b3483f58cdd60)

❶ Zoom In: The editor screen is enlarged.

❷ Zoom Out: The editor screen is reduced.

❸ Fit to Screen: The floor plan is automatically adjusted to fit the screen.

### Dimension units

You can convert and view dimension units in \[mm] and \[ft/in].

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.archisketch.com/guide/user-guide/make-project/editor-modes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
