# Arrange Furniture

## Furniture Placement

Click the furniture you want from the library on the left, then click once more at the desired position on the floor plan.\
You can easily place furniture wherever you want!

## Moving Furniture

Move with Mouse

* To move placed furniture, click and hold the item, drag it to the desired location, then release the mouse.\
  At this time, yellow guide lines become active, and the snap function works so the item is automatically aligned.\
  This is useful for matching spacing between items or with walls.

**Move with Keyboard**

After selecting an item, you can move it precisely as much as you want by entering keyboard shortcuts.

* **Move in 10 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓
* **Move in 100 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓ while holding down Shift

**Move in 3D Mode**

In 3D mode, when you click the item you want to move, three colored axes appear.\
If you drag by grabbing an axis, you can move only along that axis; if you grab outside the axis, you can move freely.

### Relative Move

In 2D mode, you can use the \[Relative Move] feature to move items by an exact distance.

* Click the reference point you want to move from,
* and release the mouse at the desired location. (The distance moved will be shown on the screen!)
* If you want to move by an exact distance, enter the desired number in the distance field, then click the \[Apply] button.
* If you click the \[Copy] button in the options window, the same item will be duplicated and placed as two items.

Shortcut

## Furniture Rotation

Items can be rotated in both 2D and 3D modes.

1. Rotate with Arrow

   To rotate an item, click the arrow and drag it to the angle you want.\
   It snaps every 45 degrees, so you can rotate it easily and intuitively.
2. Precise Angle Adjustment

   If you want to rotate to an exact angle, you can adjust it by entering the angle value directly in the \[Product Details] panel on the right.\
   Setting the desired angle numerically allows for more detailed adjustments.
3. Rotate 90 Degrees with a Shortcut

   Using the shortcut \[Q] lets you rotate the item by 90 degrees at a time.\
   This is useful when you want to adjust the angle quickly and easily!

Turn Off Snap

If you want to move or rotate an item freely without being affected by snap, try moving while holding down the Ctrl key.\
At this time, the snap feature is temporarily turned off, so you can adjust it freely as you want.

**3D Mode**

In the toolbar that appears when you click an item, click the \[Rotate] icon once to display the rotation axis and rotate it in the desired direction.\
You can drag the rotation axis directly to adjust the angle, or enter the rotation value directly in the details panel on the right.\
Click the rotate icon again to exit rotation mode and return to the original move mode.

## Resizing Furniture

If you want to adjust the size of placed furniture, there are two ways: using the product's bounding box and adjusting it in the product details on the right.

1. Adjust with Bounding Box

In 2D mode, when the bounding box is active, you can click and drag the dots that appear to expand or shrink it as much as you want.

2. Adjust in Product Details

After clicking a product, change the width, depth, and height in the \[Product Details] panel on the right using the slider bars or by entering numbers directly.

#### Keep Aspect Ratio

If you change one of the width, depth, or height values while the Keep Aspect Ratio checkbox is selected, the other properties will automatically change to match the ratio.

### Reset Values

If you want to return the product to its original state after placing it again, click the \[Reset Values] button at the top right of the property panel.

## Toolbar Feature Guide

Here are the features you should know to decorate a space using the items you've placed in earnest.\
When you place furniture in the editor, a toolbar appears on the right side of the furniture.\
Using the toolbar, you can easily access a variety of convenient features. Let's take a look at them one by one.

**2D Mode**

* Horizontal Flip: You can flip the item left and right.
* Vertical Flip: You can flip the item up and down.
* Copy: Copies the selected item.
* Array Arrangement: A useful feature for arranging multiple items at once.
* Delete: You can delete the item.
* Select Same Item: All identical items are selected, and you can check the group's detailed information in the right panel of the editor.
* Rotate Copy: Rotates the item to the desired angle and then copies it.
* Relative Move: You can place items at the desired interval centered on a reference point.
* Lock: Locked items cannot have their properties changed. To unlock them, click the item and then click the lock button.
* Hide: You can hide the item from the screen.
* Recommended Furniture Position: AI analyzes the furniture and the floor plan to automatically place the furniture (items) in the optimal position.

## Copy Furniture

Click the copy button in the toolbar that appears when you click furniture, then click once more at the desired location to place the copied item. (You can also copy and paste using Ctrl + C / V.)

### Array Arrangement

This is a useful feature when you want to place multiple items. Items are duplicated and placed at equal intervals, and you can specify the number and distance. It can only be used in 2D mode.

1. Linear Mode

* After clicking the array arrangement icon, click the reference point.
* Click the point while spacing it out in the desired direction and distance.
* To finish the array, click the Apply \[Enter] button, or click anywhere on the floor plan to exit the mode.
* You can adjust the distance and number of copies by entering them directly in the input fields at the top.

**Fixed Interval / Fixed Length (Option)**

* Fixed Interval: Items are placed at the distance entered from the reference point.
* Fixed Length: Items are placed within the distance entered from the reference point, according to the specified number.

2. Circular Mode. Arrange furniture in a circle. Place furniture in a circle by specifying the desired angle and number.

* Great for placing chairs evenly around a round table.

3. Path Mode

This is a useful feature when you want to place items side by side continuously without interruption. For example, it can be used when repeatedly placing partitions.

* After selecting \[Array Arrangement - Path], set the direction of the item.
* Move the mouse toward the direction you want to place, and the items will be arranged along the path the mouse travels.
* If you want to complete the placement, click the \[Done ESC] button to exit the mode.

### Rotate Copy

Using the rotate copy feature, the item is copied with a mirrored flip.\
You can adjust it to the desired distance and angle.\
This is a useful feature for creating facing desks or symmetrical layouts.

* After clicking Rotate Copy, click the mouse where you want the desired angle and distance.
* You can also enter a number in the distance field to change it precisely. Click Apply \[Enter] to exit the mode.

This feature can only be used with a single item or grouped items.\
When multiple items are selected, the \[Rotate Copy] button does not appear.

## Delete Furniture

To delete furniture, click the furniture you want to delete, then click the delete icon that appears in the toolbar.\
You can also delete it by pressing the Delete or Backspace key.

## Hide Furniture

You can show/hide furniture individually. Click \[More - Hide] in the toolbar to hide the furniture.

To show hidden furniture again, click the corresponding icon in \[Layer Management] and then select the eye-shaped icon.

## Lock Furniture

If you lock furniture, it will be excluded from selection.\
Locking furniture you want to keep fixed makes it easier to arrange the space.\
After clicking the furniture you want to lock and then pressing \[More - Lock], the bounding box changes to red and a lock icon appears.

There are two ways to unlock it:

* You can unlock it by clicking the lock button next to the selected furniture.
* You can select the locked item in the \[Layer Management] tab and unlock it.

## 2D Projection

After clicking a product in 3D mode and selecting the \[...] More button, you can use the 2D projection feature.\
This feature automatically aligns the product to one of six basic views (front view, rear view, left side view, right side view, top view, bottom view).

| View Name           | Description                                                        |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Front View**      | A view of the front side of the product from the front             |
| **Rear View**       | A view of the back side of the product from the front              |
| **Left Side View**  | A view of the left side of the product                             |
| **Right Side View** | A view of the right side of the product                            |
| **Top View**        | A view looking down at the product from above (shot from the top)  |
| **Bottom View**     | A view looking up at the product from below (shot from the bottom) |

## Grouping Furniture

### Multi-Select

Multi-select is available in both 2D and 3D modes.\
You can select multiple items at once and use functions such as moving, aligning, and array arrangement.\
It is efficient because you can manipulate multiple items at once without moving them one by one.

**Shift + Drag (select a wide area at once)**

* Using this method, you can drag and select multiple items at once.\
  All items within the area dragged by the mouse will be selected at once, which is useful when moving or rotating several items at the same time.

**Shift + Click (select only the items you want)**

* While holding down the Shift key, click the items you want one by one with the mouse, and you can select only the items you want.\
  If you click an already selected item again, it will be deselected, so you can work by selecting only the exact items you want.

### Grouping

Shortcut: Ctrl + G. You can group multiple items to manage them all at once.\
After multi-selecting the items you want, click the \[Group] button in the toolbar to group the items into one group.\
Now you can move or rotate this group all at once.

It is also possible to group grouped items again into another group.\
You can create multiple nested groups and manage groups of groups, groups of groups of groups, and so on all at once, making it even more efficient!

#### **Ungroup**

Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + G. If you want to manage grouped items individually, click the \[Ungroup] button.

## Align Furniture

Alignment can be used in both 2D and 3D modes.\
This feature helps you align furniture neatly and easily, and the alignment icons appear in the toolbar when you multi-select items.\
Select and apply the alignment function you want.

1. Vertical Alignment

* Top Alignment
* Middle Alignment
* Bottom Alignment

2. Horizontal Alignment

* Left Alignment
* Center Alignment
* Right Alignment

## Replace Item

When multiple items are selected, click the \[Replace Item] button that appears in the group details to choose a similar item from the furniture library on the left.\
Using this feature, you can replace the selected items with new items in the exact same positions.\
Also, in the right \[Group Details] panel, you can check how many identical items have been placed.

If there are no recommended items and you see the message 'No items available,' don't worry.\
Press the back button, find and select the item you want again, and it will be replaced in the same position as the existing item.

If you have placed multiple identical items, it is much more convenient to click the \[Select Same Item] button to select all items at once and use the \[Replace Item] feature.

## Change Position Property

Each product has a position property assigned by default.

For example:

* Products placed on the floor: rugs
* Products standing on the floor: chairs, tables
* Products attached to the ceiling: ceiling lights, ceiling fans
* Products attached to the wall: curtains, picture frames

In the editor, you can change this position property.\
After clicking a product, modify the position property in the product details on the right.\
For example, you can stage things like standing a wall-mounted frame on the floor or replacing a wooden plank attached to the ceiling with another decoration.

These changes apply only within that project, so feel free to experiment more freely!

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is there a tip for easily placing objects on top of furniture?

I'll tell you two methods.

1. **Enter Height from Floor**

   When you want to place a prop on top of a table or storage unit, first check the height of the table or storage unit, then place the prop.\
   Then, in the product details on the right, enter \[Height from Floor] to match the height of the furniture, and the prop will be placed accurately on top of the table or storage unit.\
   With this method, you can easily place objects and stage them!

2. **Use Hidden Line Mode**

   If you want to place something in the middle like a bookshelf, or if placement is difficult because the top surface of the item is low, try using Hidden Line Mode.\
   When you turn on \[Display Mode - Hidden Line Mode] at the bottom of the editor, the outer faces of the item are shown as lines, making it easy to check the joint areas with other items.\
   Now just drag the green arrow and place it exactly against the face of the other item.

### Can I bring furniture from the original project into a new floor plan?

In the Archisketch editor, between projects '**Copy Room**' and '**Copy Furniture**' functions, you can bring the contents of a previous project into a new floor plan.\
See below for how to do it.

**Bring in the Entire Room**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* In the previous project floor plan, click and hold the floor of the room you want to copy, then press Ctrl+C to copy the room.
* Go to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the room.
* Adjust the furniture positions included in the room to match the new floor plan.

**Bring in Furniture Only**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* With the furniture you want to bring in from the previous project selected, press Ctrl+C to copy the furniture.
  * Copy multiple pieces of furniture: hold Shift to drag and select the furniture you want.
* Go to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the furniture.
* Adjust the position of the pasted furniture to match the new floor plan.
