# Learn about Editor Mode

## Switching between 2D / 3D modes

The editor provides four viewer modes.\
You'll use Floor (2D) and ISO View (3D) the most, so be sure to remember the shortcuts too!

![](/files/c56deadd1242d7b472a1402fbd11e9515aeb4dfe)

#### Floor (2D mode)

: A mode that lets you view drawings on a 2D plane.\
In this mode, it's useful when placing, copying, moving furniture, or setting up a layout.\
Also, because dimension information is displayed together, you can see at a glance the distances between furniture or between walls and furniture, which is a big help when planning a layout.

#### Plan viewer

: A mode that lets you view the entire space from a top-down perspective.\
In this mode, you can check the space in three dimensions, making it easier to understand furniture placement and structure more clearly.

#### ISO View (3D mode)

: A mode that lets you view products in three dimensions using an isometric view in 3D mode.\
You can simultaneously check the front, side, and top of a product to fine-tune furniture placement or design.\
In particular, this mode is often used when moving products up and down or placing finishing materials on walls.

#### First-person viewer

: A mode that lets you explore the space from a first-person perspective.\
As if you were actually there in the space, you can experience the interior design and check details directly.\
However, in First-Person Viewer mode, you cannot place or edit products; only viewer functions are available.

Shortcut

| Name                    | Shortcut |
| ----------------------- | -------- |
| **Floor (2D mode)**     | 1        |
| **Plan viewer**         | 2        |
| **ISO View (3D mode)**  | 3        |
| **First-person viewer** | 4        |

## 2D view mode settings

There are also various buttons in the view mode, shown as an eye icon at the bottom of the editor.\
You can turn functions on and off, and using them appropriately can be a big help in your work. Shall we go through them one by one?

#### View mode

* Grid: You can turn the grid pattern displayed in the background on or off.
* Guide lines: You can show or hide the guide lines added while drawing the floor plan.
* Floor furniture: You can toggle furniture placed on the floor, based on the position property, all at once.
* Wall furniture: You can toggle furniture placed on the wall, based on the position property, all at once.
* Ceiling furniture: You can toggle furniture placed on the ceiling, based on the position property, all at once.
* Architecture/Materials: You can easily turn structures created with the Architecture/Materials editor on and off.

#### Room view

* Space name: The room type or the name you set yourself is displayed.
* Space area: The area is automatically calculated and displayed on the 2D floor plan.

#### Dimension line view

* Inner wall dimension basis: By default, inner wall dimensions are displayed.\
  You can check the exact dimensions between walls.
* Hide dimension lines: If you don't need dimension lines, you can choose Hide dimension lines to hide them.\
  Useful when creating a clean floor plan.

#### Measurement line

* You can show or hide the measurement lines added using the measurement function from the tool icon at the top of the editor.

## 3D mode settings

### Display mode

Archisketch provides four display modes.\
Using these modes makes it easy to check the exact outline of a product, which is useful for more detailed work.\
Each mode is as follows.

* Normal mode: By default, products are displayed according to their color and texture. Use this in a general working environment.
* Wireframe mode: A mode that shows only the outline of a product, allowing you to accurately understand its shape, which is useful for placement and alignment tasks.
* Material + wireframe mode: A mode that emphasizes and displays product details.\
  Use it when examining areas where texture or detail is needed.
* Transparent wireframe mode: You can better check the depth or three-dimensional feel of a product in 3D view.

### Performance mode

\[Display First] and \[Performance First] are two modes for optimizing the screen in the Archisketch editor.\
Each mode sets the user's work environment differently, operating by prioritizing either the display method or performance.

* Display First: The elements shown on the screen appear clear and detailed.\
  Useful when visual quality matters, but it may be somewhat slow with complex models.
* Performance First: Simplifies the screen display to provide fast response speed.\
  Performance is smoother when working on complex tasks, but visual quality may be slightly reduced.

### Camera settings

By clicking the camera icon at the bottom right of the editor, you can set the camera position, azimuth, and field of view in the editor's 3D mode.

![](/files/05535f5f1e5178eddcdad7cd43c232e074cf3b6e)

* Perspective: With the camera altitude set to 35°, azimuth to 47°, and field of view to 60°, depth and perspective are naturally expressed in the space.\
  You can experience a realistic sense of space similar to what you see with your own eyes.
* Orthographic: You can accurately understand the structure and proportions of a space without perspective distortion.\
  A useful view when objectively reviewing furniture placement or space dimensions.

### Sunlight

Sunlight is applied by clicking the sunlight icon at the bottom right of the editor.\
When you click this icon, it creates an effect like real sunlight entering, letting you view the model more realistically.

* The sunlight settings are also linked with Render Studio, so the applied settings are reflected during rendering as well.

## Other features

### Floor plan lock (2D mode)

After completing the floor plan drawing, when decorating the floor plan by placing furniture or finishing materials, this function locks the walls in the floor plan so they don't move.\
Using this function lets you safely place other elements without accidentally changing the walls.

![](/files/7407be74d6613dae4cd7c162a575724e10d29039)

{% hint style="info" %}
If you try to modify a wall while working and it won't move, check whether 'Floor plan lock' is enabled!
{% endhint %}

### Screen capture

A feature that lets you easily download the editor screen as an image file. Available in both 2D / 3D modes.

**When in 2D mode**

* The entire floor plan is automatically adjusted to fit.
* Dimensions and room names are excluded.
* The result is downloaded in PNG format.

**When in 3D mode**

* It is captured exactly as the view currently displayed on the screen.
* Downloaded in PNG format.

![](/files/ae5adb62e990a893bacb97234bc6363b7b032eba)

### Floor plan zoom in / out / fit to screen

If you want to zoom in or out without using the mouse wheel, please use this function.

![](/files/1cbf46f35a3e9fdb7a424f987629d79841eead81)

❶ Zoom in: The editor screen is enlarged.

❷ Zoom out: The editor screen is reduced.

❸ Fit to screen: The floor plan is automatically adjusted to fit the screen.

### Dimension units

You can convert and view dimension units in \[mm] and \[ft/in].

### Moving around the floor plan with the minimap

The entire floor plan **minimap**is visible at a glance. When working on a large floor plan, you can quickly identify your current location and move to where you want.

<figure><img src="/files/be965837547f3d373d0448f97d706018dc9fd7a1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Features**

* Drag the handle at the bottom left **to resize the minimap**.
* **The same can be used**in the 2D/3D floor plan editor, as well as the ceiling, finishing, and parametric editors

{% hint style="info" %}
**Pro tip** — Enabling the minimap on large floor plans or floor plans with multiple spaces greatly reduces the hassle of moving the screen around.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.archisketch.com/guide/user-en/make-project/editor-modes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
