# Place Furniture

## Furniture placement

Click the furniture you want from the left library, then click once more on the desired spot on the floor plan.\
You can easily place furniture wherever you want!

## Moving furniture

Moving with the mouse

* To move placed furniture, click and hold the item, drag it to the desired location, then release the mouse.\
  At this time, the yellow guide line becomes active and the snap feature works, automatically aligning the item.\
  This is useful for matching spacing between items or with walls.

**Moving with the keyboard**

After selecting an item, you can move it precisely as much as you want by entering keyboard shortcuts.

* **Move in 10 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓
* **Move in 100 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓ while holding Shift

**Moving in 3D mode**

In 3D mode, when you click the item you want to move, three colored axes appear.\
If you grab and drag an axis, you can move only along that axis; if you move it by dragging somewhere other than an axis, you can move it freely.

### Relative move

In 2D mode, you can use the \[Relative Move] feature to move items by an exact distance.

* Click the reference point you want to move from,
* and release the mouse at the desired position. (At this time, the distance moved is shown on screen!)
* If you want to move by an exact distance, enter the desired number in the distance field, then click the \[Apply] button.
* If you click the \[Copy] button in the options window, the same item will be duplicated and two copies will be placed.

## Furniture rotation

Items can be rotated in both 2D and 3D modes.

1. Rotate with arrows

   To rotate an item, click the arrow and drag it to the desired angle.\
   With 45-degree snapping, you can rotate it easily and intuitively.
2. Precise angle adjustment

   If you want to rotate to an exact angle, you can directly enter the angle value in \[Product Details] on the right to adjust it.\
   Setting the desired angle numerically allows for finer adjustments.
3. Rotate 90 degrees with a shortcut

   Using the \[Q] shortcut lets you rotate the item by 90 degrees.\
   It's useful when you want to adjust the angle quickly and easily!

Turn off snap feature

If you want to move or rotate an item freely without being affected by snapping, try moving it while holding Ctrl.\
At this time, the snap feature is temporarily turned off, so you can adjust it freely as you like.

**3D mode**

In the toolbar that appears when you click an item, click the \[Rotate] icon once to display the rotation axis and rotate it in the desired direction.\
You can adjust the angle by directly dragging the rotation axis, or enter the rotation value directly in the details panel on the right.\
Click the rotate icon again to exit rotation mode and return to the original move mode.

## Adjusting furniture size

If you want to adjust the size of placed furniture, there are two methods: using the product's bounding box (Bounding Box), or adjusting it in the product details on the right.

1. Adjust with the bounding box

In 2D mode, when the bounding box is active, click and drag the points that appear to expand or shrink it as much as you want.

2. Adjust in product details

In the \[Product Details] on the right that appear when you click an item, change the width, depth, and height using the sliders or by entering numbers directly.

#### Keep aspect ratio

If you select the Keep aspect ratio checkbox and change the size of one of the width, depth, or height values, the other attributes will automatically change to match the ratio.

### Reset values

If you want to return the item to its original state after placing it again, click the \[Reset Values] button at the top right of the property panel.

## Toolbar features introduction

We introduce the features you'll need to know in order to use the placed items to decorate your space.\
When you place furniture in the editor, a tool bar appears to the right of the furniture.\
Using the toolbar, you can easily use various convenient features. Let's take a look at them one by one.

**2D mode**

* Flip horizontally: You can flip the item left to right.
* Flip vertically: You can flip the item top to bottom.
* Copy: Copies the selected item.
* Array placement: A useful feature when arranging multiple items at the same time.
* Delete: You can delete the item.
* Select same item: All identical items are selected, and you can check the group's detailed information in the editor's right-side panel.
* Rotate copy: Rotates the item to the desired angle and then copies it.
* Relative move: You can place items at the desired intervals centered on a reference point.
* Lock: Locked items cannot have their properties changed. To unlock, click the item and then click the lock button.
* Hide: You can hide the item from the screen.
* Furniture location recommendation: AI analyzes the furniture and the floor plan, then automatically places the furniture (items) in the optimal location.

## Copy furniture

In the toolbar that appears when you click furniture, click the copy button and then click once more at the desired location to place the copied item. (You can also copy and paste using Ctrl + C / V.)

### Array placement

This is a useful feature when you want to place multiple items. Items are duplicated and placed at the same intervals, and you can specify the number and distance. It is available only in 2D mode.

1. Straight mode

* After clicking the array placement icon, click the reference point.
* Click a point at the desired direction and distance interval.
* To end the array, click the \[Apply Enter] button, or click anywhere on the floor plan to exit the mode.
* You can adjust it by directly entering the distance and number of copies in the input fields at the top.

**Fixed spacing / fixed length (options)**

* Fixed spacing: Items are placed at the distance entered from the reference point.
* Fixed length: Items are placed in the specified number within the distance entered from the reference point.

2. Circular mode arranges furniture in a circle. Place furniture in a circle by specifying the desired angle and number.

* Good for evenly placing chairs around a round table.

3. Path mode

This is a useful feature when you want to place items side by side continuously without gaps. For example, it can be used when repeatedly placing partitions.

* After selecting \[Array Placement - Path], set the item direction.
* If you move the mouse in the direction you want to place it, the items will be placed along the path the mouse passes through.
* If you want to finish placing, press the \[Done ESC] button to exit the mode.

### Rotate copy

Using the rotate copy feature duplicates the item in a mirrored orientation.\
You can adjust the desired distance and angle.\
It is a useful feature for creating facing desks or symmetrical layouts.

* After clicking rotate copy, click the mouse at the spot that matches the desired angle and distance.
* You can also enter a number in the distance field to change it precisely by entering the exact value. Press Apply \[Enter] to exit the mode.

This feature can only be used for a single item or a grouped item.\
When multiple items are selected, the \[Rotate Copy] button does not appear.

## Delete furniture

To delete furniture, click the furniture you want to delete, then click the delete icon that appears in the toolbar.\
You can also delete it by pressing the Delete or Backspace key.

## Hide furniture

You can show or hide furniture individually. Click \[More - Hide] in the toolbar to hide the furniture.

To show hidden furniture again, click the corresponding icon in \[Layer Management], then select the eye icon.

## Lock furniture

When furniture is locked, it is excluded from selection.\
If you lock furniture you want to keep fixed, you can arrange the space more easily.\
After clicking the furniture you want to lock and pressing \[More - Lock], the bounding box turns red and a lock icon appears.

There are two ways to unlock it:

* You can unlock it by clicking the lock button next to the selected furniture.
* You can select the locked item in the \[Layer Management] tab and unlock it.

## 2D projection

In 3D mode, after clicking an item and selecting the \[...] More button, you can use the 2D projection feature.\
This feature automatically aligns the item to show it in one of six standard viewpoints (front, back, left, right, top, bottom).

| **Front view**      | View looking at the front of the item from the front          |
| **Back view**       | View looking at the back of the item from the front           |
| **Left side view**  | View looking at the left side of the item                     |

| **Top view**        | View looking down at the item from above (shot from the top)  |
| **Bottom view**     | View looking up at the item from below (shot from the bottom) |

### Multiple selection

Multiple selection is available in both 2D and 3D modes.\
You can select multiple items at once to use features such as moving, aligning, and array placement.\
Instead of moving items one by one, you can easily manipulate several items at once, which is more efficient.

**Shift + drag (select a wide area at once)**

* Using this method, you can drag to select multiple items at once.\
  All items within the area dragged with the mouse are selected at once, so it is useful when moving or rotating several items at the same time.

**Shift + click (select only the items you want)**

* While holding the Shift key, click the items you want one by one with the mouse, and you can select only the desired items.\
  If you click an already selected item again, it will be removed from the selection, so you can accurately pick only the items you want to work with.

### Grouping

Shortcut: Ctrl + G\
You can manage multiple items at once by grouping them.\
After selecting the desired items, click the \[Group] button in the toolbar to combine them into one group.\
Now you can move or rotate this group all at once.

You can also group already grouped items again into another group.\
By nesting multiple groups, you can create and manage group of group, group of group of group, and more all at once, making things even more efficient!

#### **Ungroup**

Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + G\
If you want to manage grouped items individually, click the \[Ungroup] button.

## Align furniture

Alignment can be used in both 2D and 3D modes.\
This feature helps you neatly and easily align furniture, and when multiple items are selected, alignment icons appear in the toolbar.\
Select and apply the alignment feature you want.

1. Vertical alignment

* Top alignment
* Middle alignment
* Bottom alignment

2. Horizontal alignment

* Left alignment
* Center alignment
* Right alignment

## Replace item

If you click the \[Replace Item] button that appears in the group details while multiple items are selected, you can choose a similar item from the furniture library on the left.\
Using this feature, you can replace the selected item with a new one in the exact same location.\
You can also check how many of the same items are placed in the right-side \[Group Details].

If no recommended item is available and a message saying 'No items available' appears, don't worry.\
Press the back button, find and select the item you want again, and it will be replaced in the same location as the existing item.

If you have placed multiple identical items, it is much more convenient to click the \[Select Same Item] button to select all items at once, and then use the \[Replace Item] feature.

## Change position property

Each item has a default position property.

For example:

* Products placed on the floor: rugs
* Products standing on the floor: chairs, tables
* Products attached to the ceiling: ceiling lights, ceiling fans
* Products attached to the wall: curtains, frames

In the editor, you can change this position property.\
After clicking an item, modify the position property in the product details on the right.\
For example, you can create scenes such as placing a picture frame that is attached to a wall on the floor, or changing a wooden plank attached to the ceiling into another decoration.

Since these changes apply only within the project, feel free to try more creative arrangements!

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Any tips for easily placing objects on top of furniture?

I'll show you two methods.

1. **Enter height from floor**

   When you want to place a prop on top of a table or storage unit, first check the height of the table or storage unit, then place the prop.\
   Next, in the product details on the right, enter \[Height from Floor] to match the furniture height, and the prop will be placed exactly on top of the table or storage unit.\
   You can easily create scenes by placing objects this way!

2. **Using Hidden Line Mode**

   If you want to place an object in the middle like a bookshelf, or if the top surface of the item is too low to place things easily, try using Hidden Line Mode.\
   When you turn on \[Display Mode - Hidden Line Mode] at the bottom of the editor, the outer edges of the item are shown as lines, making it easy to check how it connects with other items.\
   Now drag the green arrow and place it so it matches the face of another item exactly.

### Can I load the furniture from the original project into a new floor plan?

In Archisketch Editor, between projects '**Copy Room**' and '**Copy furniture**' features can be used to bring the contents of a previous project into a new floor plan.\
See below for how.

**Bring in the entire room**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* In the previous project floor plan, click and hold the floor of the room you want to copy, then press Ctrl+C to copy the room.
* Go to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the room.
* Adjust the furniture positions included in the room to fit the new floor plan.

**Bring in furniture only**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* In the previous project, select the furniture you want to bring over and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
  * Multiple furniture copy: You can drag while holding Shift to select the furniture you want.
* Go to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the furniture.
* Adjust the position of the pasted furniture to fit the new floor plan.
