## Furniture grouping

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Multi-selection

Multi-selection is possible in both 2D and 3D modes.\
You can select multiple products at once to use functions such as moving, aligning, and array placement.\
It is efficient because you can easily manipulate multiple products at once without moving them one by one.

**Shift + drag (select a large area at once)**

* Using this method, you can drag and select multiple products at once.\
  All products within the area dragged with the mouse are selected at once, so it is useful when moving or rotating multiple products at the same time.

**Shift + click (select only the products you want)**

* If you hold Shift and click the products you want one by one with the mouse, you can select only the products you want.\
  If you click an already selected product again, it will be removed from the selection, so you can choose exactly the products you want and work with them.

![](/files/bdc272dab6d6f4061904f2120eedef88ff2147ca)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Group

Shortcut: Ctrl + G Grouping multiple products lets you manage them at once.\
After multi-selecting the desired products, click the \[Group] button in the toolbar to group the products into one group.\
You can now move or rotate this group at once.

![](/files/3aa94040b6bd50203eea094189069b29aaa8a4bd)

{% hint style="info" %}
You can also group grouped products again into another group.\
By creating nested groups, you can manage groups of groups, and groups of groups of groups, all at once, making it even more efficient!
{% endhint %}

#### **Ungroup**

Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + G If you want to manage grouped products individually, click the \[Ungroup] button.

![](/files/5b13965c4a89130a231ca7f661473c584d12038c)

**Shortcut**

| Function                                                            | Shortcut                |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------- |
| Multi-selection (when you want to grab a large area at once) | Shift + drag |
| Multi-selection (when you want to click only the products you want) | Shift + click a product |
| Group                                                               | Ctrl + G                |
| Ungroup                                                             | Ctrl + Shift + G        |
| {% endstep %}                                                       |                         |
| {% endstepper %}                                                    |                         |

## Align furniture

Alignment can be used in both 2D and 3D modes.\
It is a feature that helps you align furniture neatly and easily. When you multi-select products, alignment icons appear in the toolbar.\
Select and apply the alignment function you want.

1. Vertical alignment

* Align top
* Align middle
* Align bottom

2. Horizontal alignment

* Align left
* Align center
* Align right

![](/files/44c8ce6d7f9e0bb855f64bf082cd672821fe9424)

3. Height alignment (3D)

* Align top
* Align middle
* Align bottom

![](/files/9992d6ba12e1f3d686f324fffcbd58bf728d7a2f)

## Replace product

If you multi-select products and click the \[Replace Product] button that appears in the group details, you can choose similar products from the furniture library on the left.\
With this feature, you can replace the selected products with new products in the exact same positions.\
You can also check how many of the same products have been placed in the right \[Group Details] panel.

If no recommended products are available and a message saying 'No products available' appears, don't worry.\
Press the back button, find the product you want again, and select it; it will be replaced in the same position as the existing product.

![](/files/0abc56def9634bb9ebd4c1a64da8e741164f1e9e)

{% hint style="info" %}
If you have placed multiple identical products, it is much more convenient to click \[Select Same Product] to select all products at once and then use the \[Replace Product] feature.
{% endhint %}

## Change position properties

Each product has a default position property.

For example:

* Products placed on the floor: rugs
* Products standing on the floor: chairs, tables
* Products attached to the ceiling: ceiling lights, ceiling fans
* Products attached to walls: curtains, frames

In the editor, you can change this position property.\
After clicking a product, modify its position property in the product details on the right.\
For example, you can place a frame that is attached to the wall on the floor, or replace a wooden plank attached to the ceiling with another decoration.

These changes apply only within that project, so feel free to try them more freely!

![](/files/01aa2c48fe8d1102d94170d73ed5b4ad514e4c1f)

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is there a tip for easily placing objects on top of products?

I'll show you two ways.

1. **Enter height from the floor**

   When you want to place an accessory on a table or cabinet, first check the height of the table or cabinet, then place the accessory.\
   Then, in the product details on the right, enter \[Height from the floor] to match the furniture height, and the accessory will be placed exactly on top of the table or cabinet.\
   With this method, you can easily stage objects on top!

![](/files/4026f1aaab1a2ddac814388fc246454b2248936f)

2. **Using hidden-line mode**

   If you want to place items in the middle like a bookshelf, or if placement is difficult because the top surface is low, try hidden-line mode.\
   Turn on \[Display Mode - Hidden-Line Mode] at the bottom of the editor, and the outer surfaces of the product will be shown as lines, making it easy to see the connection points with other products.\
   Now drag the green arrow to place it exactly so that it matches the surface of another product.

### Can I bring furniture from an existing project into a new floor plan?

In the Archisketch editor, between projects '**Copy room**' and '**Copy furniture**' functions can be used to bring content from a previous project into a new floor plan.\
See below for how.

**Import the entire room**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* In the previous project floor plan, copy the room by clicking the floor of the room you want to copy, then pressing Ctrl+C.
* Move to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the room.
* Adjust the furniture included in the room to fit the new floor plan.

**Import only furniture**

* Open the new floor plan tab and the previous project floor plan tab at the same time.
* With the furniture you want to bring from the previous project selected, press Ctrl+C to copy the furniture.
  * Multiple furniture copy: You can hold Shift and drag to select the furniture you want.
* Move to the new floor plan tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the furniture.
* Adjust the pasted furniture to fit the new floor plan.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.archisketch.com/guide/user-en/arranging-furniture/furniture-placement.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
