# Arrange furniture

## Furniture placement

Click the furniture you want from the library on the left, then click once more at the desired spot on the drawing.\
You can easily place furniture wherever you want!

## Moving furniture

Moving with the mouse

* To move placed furniture, click the product, drag it to the desired location, then release the mouse.\
  At this time, a yellow guide line is activated and the snap function works, automatically aligning the product.\
  This is useful for matching the spacing between products or between a product and a wall.

**Moving with the keyboard**

After selecting a product, you can enter keyboard shortcuts to move it precisely by the desired amount.

* **Move in 10 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓
* **Move in 100 mm increments**
  * Use the arrow keys ← ↑ → ↓ while holding Shift

**Moving in 3D mode**

In 3D mode, when you click the product you want to move, a three-color axis appears.\
If you grab and drag the axis, you can move only along that axis; if you grab and move it outside the axis, you can move it freely.

### Relative movement

In 2D mode, you can use the \[Relative movement] feature to move products by an exact distance.

* Click the reference point you want to move from,
* and release the mouse at the desired location. (The distance moved will be shown on the screen!)
* If you want to move by an exact distance, enter the desired number in the distance field, then press \[Apply].
* If you click the \[Copy] button in the options window, the same product will be duplicated and two copies will be placed.

## Furniture rotation

Products can be rotated in both 2D and 3D modes.

1. Rotating with arrows

   To rotate a product, click the arrows and drag to the desired angle.\
   It snaps every 45 degrees, so you can rotate intuitively and easily.
2. Fine-tuning the exact angle

   If you want to rotate to an exact angle, you can adjust it by entering the angle value directly in \[Product Details] on the right.\
   If you set the desired angle numerically, even finer adjustments are possible.
3. Rotate 90 degrees with a shortcut

   Using the \[Q] shortcut lets you rotate the product by 90 degrees at a time.\
   It's useful when you want to adjust angles quickly and easily!

Turning off snap

If you want to move or rotate a product freely without snap affecting it, try moving while holding the Ctrl key.\
At this time, the snap function is temporarily turned off, allowing you to adjust it freely as you want.

**3D mode**

In the toolbar that appears when you click a product, click the \[Rotate] icon once and a rotation axis will appear, allowing you to rotate in the desired direction.\
You can adjust the angle by dragging the rotation axis directly, or enter the rotation value directly in the details on the right.\
Click the rotate icon again to exit rotation mode and return to the original move mode.

## Adjusting furniture size

If you want to adjust the size of placed furniture, there are two ways: using the product's Bounding Box and adjusting it in the product details on the right.

1. Adjusting with the Bounding Box

In 2D mode, when the Bounding Box is active, click and drag the points that appear to expand or shrink it as much as you want.

2. Adjusting in Product Details

When you click a product, try changing the width, depth, and height in the \[Product Details] on the right by using the slider bars or entering numbers directly.

#### Keep aspect ratio

If you change one of the width, depth, or height values while the Keep aspect ratio checkbox is selected, the other properties will automatically change to match the ratio.

### Reset values

If you want to restore the product to its original state after placing it again, press the \[Reset values] button at the upper right of the properties.

## Introduction to toolbar features

Here are the features you'll want to learn about to decorate a space using the products you've placed in earnest.\
When you place furniture in the editor, a toolbar appears to the right of the furniture.\
Using the toolbar lets you easily use a variety of convenient features. Let's go through them one by one.

**2D mode**

* Flip horizontally: You can flip the product left and right.
* Flip vertically: You can flip the product top and bottom.
* Copy: Copies the selected product.
* Array placement: A useful feature for arranging multiple products at the same time.
* Delete: You can delete the product.
* Select same product: All identical products are selected, and you can check the group's detailed information in the right bar of the editor
* Rotate copy: Rotates the product to the desired angle and then copies it.
* Relative movement: You can place products at the desired spacing around a reference point.
* Lock: Locked products cannot have their properties changed. To unlock, click the product and then click the lock button.
* Hide: You can hide the product from the screen.
* Recommended furniture position: AI analyzes the furniture and the drawing and automatically places the furniture (product) in the optimal position.

## Copy furniture

In the toolbar that appears when you click furniture, click the copy button and then click once more at the desired location to place the copied product. (You can also copy and paste using Ctrl + C / V.)

### Array placement

This is a useful feature when you want to place multiple products. Products are duplicated and placed at the same intervals, and you can specify the number and distance. It can be used only in 2D mode.

1. Linear mode

* After clicking the array placement icon, click the reference point.
* Click the point while spacing it out by the desired direction and distance.
* To finish the array, click the \[Apply] button, or click anywhere on the drawing to exit the mode.
* You can adjust the distance and number of copies by entering them directly in the input fields at the top.

**Fixed spacing / fixed length (options)**

* Fixed spacing: Products are placed at the distance entered from the reference point.
* Fixed length: Products are placed in the number you specified within the distance entered from the reference point.

2. Circular mode: Arranges furniture in a circle. Specify the desired angle and number to place the furniture in a circle.

* Good for evenly placing chairs around a round table.

3. Path mode

This is a useful feature when you want to place products side by side continuously without breaks. For example, it can be used when repeatedly placing partitions.

* After selecting \[Array placement - Path], set the direction of the products.
* When you move the mouse toward the side where you want the placement, the products are placed along the path the mouse passes through.
* If you want to finish placing, press the \[Done ESC] button to exit the mode.

### Rotate copy

Using rotate copy, products are copied with a mirror-like flip.\
You can adjust the distance and angle.\
It is useful for creating facing desk layouts or symmetrical arrangements.

* After clicking Rotate Copy, click the mouse where the desired angle and distance match.
* You can also enter a number for the distance to change it to an exact value. Press \[Apply] or \[Enter] to exit the mode.

This feature can be used only for a single product or a grouped product. When multiple items are selected, the \[Rotate Copy] button does not appear.

## Deleting furniture

To delete furniture, click the furniture you want to delete, then click the delete icon that appears in the toolbar.\
Or you can also delete it by pressing the Delete or Backspace key.

## Hiding furniture

You can individually show/hide furniture. Click \[More - Hide] in the toolbar to hide the furniture.

To show hidden furniture again, click the icon in \[Floor management], then select the eye icon.

## Locking furniture

When you lock furniture, it is excluded from selection.\
If you lock the furniture you want to keep fixed, arranging the space becomes easier.\
After clicking the furniture you want to lock, press \[More - Lock]; the Bounding Box will turn red and a lock icon will appear.

There are two ways to unlock:

* You can unlock by clicking the lock button next to the selected furniture.
* You can unlock by selecting the locked product in the \[Floor management] tab.

## 2D projection

After clicking a product in 3D mode, select the \[...] More button to use the 2D projection feature.\
This feature automatically aligns the product and shows it as one of six basic viewpoints (front view, rear view, left side view, right side view, top view, bottom view).

| **Front view**      | A viewpoint looking at the front of the product from the front          |
| **Rear view**       | A viewpoint looking at the back of the product from the front           |
| **Left side view**  | A viewpoint looking at the left side of the product                     |
| **Right side view** | A viewpoint looking at the right side of the product                    |
| **Top view**        | A viewpoint looking down at the product from above (shot from the top)  |
| **Bottom view**     | A viewpoint looking up at the product from below (shot from the bottom) |

## Grouping furniture

### Multiple selection

Multiple selection is possible in both 2D and 3D modes.\
You can select several products at once and use functions such as moving, aligning, and array placement.\
It is efficient because you can operate several products at once easily, without moving them one by one.

**Shift + drag (select a large area at once)**

* Using this method, you can drag to select multiple products at once.\
  Since all products within the area dragged with the mouse are selected at once, it is useful when moving or rotating multiple products at the same time.

**Shift + click (select only the products you want)**

* While holding Shift and clicking the products you want one by one with the mouse, you can select only the products you want.\
  If you click a product that is already selected again, it will be removed from the selection, so you can work by choosing only the exact products you want.

### Grouping

Shortcut: Ctrl + G. If you group multiple products, you can manage them all at once.\
After selecting the products you want, click the \[Group] button in the toolbar and the products will be grouped into one group.\
Now you can move or rotate this group all at once.

It is also possible to group already grouped products into another group.\
You can create multiple nested groups and manage various groups all at once, like a group of groups or a group of groups of groups, making it even more efficient!

## Align furniture

Alignment can be used in both 2D and 3D modes.\
It is a feature that helps you align furniture neatly and easily, and when you select multiple products, alignment icons appear in the toolbar.\
Select the alignment function you want and apply it.

1. Vertical alignment

* Top alignment
* Middle alignment
* Bottom alignment

2. Horizontal alignment

* Left alignment
* Center alignment
* Right alignment

## Replacing products

When multiple products are selected, click the \[Replace Product] button that appears in the group details to choose a similar product from the furniture library on the left.\
Using this feature lets you replace the selected products with a new product in the exact same position.\
You can also check how many of the same products have been placed in the right \[Group Details].

Even if a message saying 'No products available' appears because there are no recommended products, don't worry.\
Press the back button, find the product you want again, and select it, and it will be replaced in the same position as the existing product.

If you have placed multiple copies of the same product, it is much more convenient to click \[Select Same Product] to select all products at once and then use \[Replace Product].

## Changing position properties

Each product has a position property assigned by default.

For example:

* Products placed on the floor: rugs
* Products standing on the floor: chairs, tables
* Products attached to the ceiling: ceiling lights, ceiling fans
* Products attached to walls: curtains, frames

In the editor, you can change this position property.\
Click a product and modify its position property in the product details on the right.\
For example, you can stage a picture frame attached to a wall standing on the floor, or replace a wooden plank attached to the ceiling with another decoration.

These changes apply only within that project, so feel free to try more creative arrangements!

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is there an easy tip for placing objects on top of products?

I'll tell you two methods.

1. **Enter height from the floor**

   When you want to place a prop on top of a table or storage unit, first check the height of the table or storage unit, then place the prop.\
   Next, in the product details on the right, enter \[Height from the floor] to match the height of the furniture, and the prop will be placed exactly on top of the table or storage unit.\
   Using this method, you can easily stage objects on top of things!

2. **Using wireframe mode**

   If you want to place objects on the middle part like a bookshelf, or if it is difficult to place because the top surface of the product is low, try using wireframe mode.\
   When you turn on \[Display mode - Wireframe mode] at the bottom of the editor, the outer faces of the product are shown as lines, making it easy to check the joining parts with other products.\
   Now drag the green arrow and place it so that it matches the face of the other product exactly.

### Can I load furniture from the original project into a new drawing?

In the Archisketch editor, you can use project-to-project '**Copy Room**' and '**Copy furniture**' functions to bring content from a previous project into a new drawing.\
See the method below.

**Bring in the entire room**

* Open the new drawing tab and the previous project drawing tab at the same time.
* In the previous project's drawing, click and hold the floor of the room you want to copy, then press Ctrl+C to copy the room.
* Move to the new drawing tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the room.
* Adjust the furniture in the room to fit the new drawing.

**Bring in only the furniture**

* Open the new drawing tab and the previous project drawing tab at the same time.
* With the furniture you want to bring in from the previous project selected, press Ctrl+C to copy the furniture.
  * Copy multiple furniture pieces: Hold Shift to drag and select the furniture you want.
* Move to the new drawing tab and press Ctrl+V to paste the furniture.
* Adjust the position of the pasted furniture to fit the new drawing.
