CAD Upload (Image Conversion)

This feature is available only to some enterprise customers.

Archisketch provides a feature that lets you upload CAD files and convert the corresponding drawings into images for use.

Upload method

Proceed through the steps below.

Upload dxf file → (image conversion) → enter dimensions → upload background image → draw walls

Step 1. Prepare the CAD file

  • Available file formats: dwg, dxf, pdf

  • Size limit

    • dwg : 5 MB or less

    • dxf : 10 MB or less

  • Layer cleanup: Be sure to include wallin the layer name that indicates a wall.

Step 2. Click [Drawing Upload → CAD Upload]

Create a new project and select [CAD Upload].

Step 3. Set drawing dimensions

After the file is converted into an image, enter the dimensions to match the drawing scale.

Step 4. Draw the floor plan

Use the drawing converted into a background image as your base and draw walls to create your own space.

Upload error

We will guide you through the errors that may occur during the upload process.

Error 1. Unable to Detect Wall Property

In this error message case, Wall componentmay be missing. For proper wall detection, be sure to include "wall"in the layer name that indicates a wall.

Error 2. Unable to Convert File

In this error message case, the AutoCAD version is not compatible or dwg there is a problem with the file, so dxf it needs to be converted to dxf Please match the AutoCAD version or convert it to the extension and try again.

Error 3. File Size Too Big

In this error message case, one drawing or element contains too much unnecessary information. To resolve this, you need to remove unnecessary drawings (3D CAD such as elevation or side views) or remove furniture information other than walls, windows, and doors. dwg Files are limited to 5 MB or less and dxf files are limited to 10 MB or less.

Error 4. CAD Import Timeout

For this error message, conversion is not possible, so if you send the drawing to Archisketch Channel Talk, we will work on the file in a usable format for you.

Error 5. Does Not Support Any File Extension Other Than .dwg/dxf

In this error message case, the extension of the uploaded file is dwg or dxf not. dwg or dxf Please try again with the file.

Error 6. Other errors

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it not possible to upload the CAD file itself instead of converting it into an image?

In addition to image conversion, there is also a feature that directly recognizes CAD files and automatically detects elements such as walls, windows, and doors. Please note that this feature is included in the paid service.
